There were widespread fears that guard Trae Young is too thin to handle the rigors of the NBA.

In fact, one scouting report indicated that Young is so skinny his pajamas only have one stripe. Another noted that, in high school, he held a summer job as the minute hand on the town clock. (OK, you get the idea.)

But the Hawks need a centerpiece, and they felt Young is the kind of guy you can build an offense around. Atlanta also added shooter Kevin Huerter at No. 19 and stretch-4 Omari Spellman, who was tabbed with 13.75 percent body fat at the combine in Chicago, most of any player who remained in the draft. At worst, he and Young will make a great Laurel and Hardy at the Hawks’ Halloween party.

The Celtics attempted to trade up into the top five in hopes of landing a young big man to develop, and instead, young developable big man Robert Williams fell to Boston at No. 2This is a guy who was projected to go from pick Nos. 11-15.

Perhaps the most valuable attribute Holiday will bring to Indiana is his ability to play off another creator. The 6-1 guard is a comfortable shooter off movement, something he showed while playing alongside Lonzo Ball as a sophomore. Still, the upside here is limited. Holiday was the Germain Ifedi Jersey No. 35 prospect on our final Big Board.

Portland brought Simons in for a second workout late in the pre-draft process, signaling the Blazers’ affinity for the high school prospect. Our No. 36-ranked player, Simons is a long-term development prospect having played for IMG Academy in a post-graduate year this season.

The 19-year-old intrigues NBA front offices because of his ability to create his own shot at all three levels offensively. It’s easy to be skeptical of his potential to ever develop into a meaningful rotation player.

The Lakers have acquired the 39th pick Christian Dvorak Jersey in Thursday’s Draft from the 76ers, league source tells ESPN. Lakers will send Philly its 2019 second round pick via Bulls and cash.

This gives Los Angeles two second-round picks in 2018 (No. 45) and three picks in total (No. 25 come in a trade with the Cavaliers at the deadline.)

It’s an interesting move considering it’s not often high-impact players come from the second round, especially ones who factor into teams’ immediate plans, but the Lakers were solid with their picks in the back half of the first round in 2017 landing both Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart, so additional picks could work out very well for Los Angeles.

Barkley was a fine player at St. John’s, averaging 16 points and 4.5 assists as a sophomore. But he lacked the perimeter shooting skill to make up for his moderate passing skills and his inability to change direction. He was a straight-line player. Barkley played in only 27 games for the Blazers before they decided they’d seen enough and traded him to San Antonio along with Steve Kerr. Whereas Kerr got to win another title with the Spurs, Barkley was traded against two months later and waived the same day. He played for about a decade more in several European countries, including Greece and Poland.
